EU migration rules and Greek defense updates

EU Interior Ministers have approved new regulations to facilitate the return of migrants without residency rights. The rules allow for the establishment of return hubs outside the EU to process third-country nationals whose asylum applications have been rejected. This measure aims to increase the efficiency of deportations, though it requires agreements with host countries that respect human rights.

In defense news, the Greek Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defense (KYSEA) has decided to extend the presence of the Greek Patriot missile battery in Saudi Arabia for one more month. The system is stationed in Yanbu to protect critical energy infrastructure from Houthi rebel attacks. To date, the system has recorded twelve successful interceptions of ballistic missiles and drones.

Domestically in Greece, political and economic developments continue. Alexis Tsipras has raised concerns regarding structural damage to buildings in Athens' Kypseli district following Metro Line 4 construction, calling for immediate safety assessments. Meanwhile, economic reports indicate that Thessaloniki is experiencing a significant rise in housing prices, outpacing Athens, despite a decrease in real estate transactions.
