EU Military Mission in Mozambique marks two years of operations

The European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ) marked its second anniversary on September 1, 2026. The mission, which evolved from the previous EU Training Mission (EUTM MOZ), continues to support the Mozambique Defense Armed Forces (FADM) in addressing ongoing terrorist attacks in the country.

Over the past two years, the mission has implemented more than 70 programs involving approximately 2,000 Mozambican military personnel. Training disciplines include leadership, logistics, legal and gender advisory, civil-military cooperation, military health, engineering, counter-terrorism, and communications.

A primary focus of the mission has been supporting the FADM through the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) operational cycle, specifically regarding preparation, employment, and regeneration. This support is particularly targeted toward forces operating in the insurgency-affected Cabo Delgado province to enhance operational readiness and autonomy.
