EU-OSHA launches mental health campaign for workplaces

The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) has launched a multi-year campaign titled ‘Together for Mental Health at Work,’ running from 2026 to 2028. The initiative focuses on preventing mental illness and managing psychosocial risks within European businesses.

Data from the OSH Pulse 2025 survey highlights the scale of the issue: 45% of employees in the EU are exposed to mental health risks at work. Specifically, 44% report intense time pressure or workload, 37% experience general exhaustion, and 29% suffer from work-related stress, depression, or anxiety. Key risk factors identified include continuous stress, lack of communication, and workplace harassment.

In Austria, the campaign was officially introduced with support from the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, alongside experts from the Professional Association of Austrian Psychologists (BÖP). BÖP President Beate Wimmer-Puchinger emphasized that mental health is not merely an individual concern but a factor affecting corporate productivity and competitiveness, calling for improvements to organizational structures and working conditions.
