Moldova urged to open all EU accession negotiation chapters

On 8 July, the European Parliament adopted the annual report on Moldova’s EU trajectory with 505 votes in favour, 115 against and 45 abstentions. The resolution calls for the immediate opening of all six negotiation clusters, praising the country’s progress in justice reform, anti‑corruption measures and other EU‑required standards. Interim prime minister Eugeniu Osmochescu thanked the Parliament, stating that the vote signals strong political backing for Moldova’s European integration and will help attract investment, improve security and raise living standards.

In parallel, Moldovan Vice‑Speaker Vlad Batrincea warned that the national parliament may need to remain in session through August because of the large volume of legislative proposals linked to EU accession reforms, including fiscal, budget and local administration changes. He urged more transparent legislative procedures to ensure the quality of the reforms.

The combined actions underscore Moldova’s accelerated push toward EU membership and the domestic effort required to meet the accession criteria.
