EU policy and Sicilian initiatives focus on the ‘right to stay’

European Parliament Vice President Antonella Sberna has emphasized the importance of maintaining the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and cohesion funds as essential pillars for supporting the ‘right to stay’ strategy. Speaking at a high-level session in Brussels, Sberna highlighted the European Commission's efforts to transform the right of residence into a reality that fosters community prosperity.

In Sicily, the PattoxRestare network has conducted an extensive summer campaign consisting of over one hundred events across the island. These gatherings, including debates and public assemblies, aim to address the challenges of depopulation and create concrete proposals to ensure that staying in one's home territory remains a viable choice. The initiative focuses on identifying local needs and utilizing culture as a resource to strengthen community ties and create economic opportunities.
