EU proposes new e-commerce import fees and duties

The European Union has proposed new measures targeting small-value imports from third countries. Under the proposal, a two-euro fee per item will be applied to imports valued up to 150 euros, alongside a temporary flat-rate customs duty of three euros per category of goods. This measure, intended to cover the rising costs of tracking small e-commerce packages, is set to take effect on July 1, 2026. Additionally, the EU Council has adopted a regulation requiring non-EU-based e-commerce platforms to pay customs duties, a responsibility previously held by the end consumer.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Council of Ministers has adopted several administrative and financial decisions. This includes increasing the threshold for customs duty exemptions for passenger cars imported by persons with disabilities from 30,000 KM to 45,000 KM.

Furthermore, a financing agreement has been proposed with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) for a grant worth approximately 9.2 million USD. This project aims to increase climate change resilience in the agricultural sector across 71 municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with specific funding allocations for the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska.
