EU recalls enoki mushrooms and sushi rice over Listeria and mineral oil contamination

Hungarian food safety officials have issued a recall of pre‑packed enoki mushrooms after laboratory tests found Listeria monocytogenes in the product. The mushrooms, sold under the Green Box Limited brand and sourced from China and Malaysia, were flagged through the EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF). Consumers who purchased the affected batches (codes G22014, G22029, G22030) were instructed not to eat the mushrooms and to return them for disposal.

In the Netherlands, authorities have withdrawn a kilogram of SUNCLAD sushi rice made by Italy's Geovita srl because it contained mineral oil contaminants above permissible limits. The contaminant, identified as MOAH, can have genotoxic effects. The recall was also coordinated via RASFF, and retailers were asked to collect any remaining product and prevent its consumption.

Both recalls involve cooperation between national agencies and the exporters, with the aim of protecting public health and removing the unsafe items from the market.
