EU regions call for support to accelerate electric vehicle transition
European regional representatives are calling for a clear and predictable path toward zero-emission mobility. During a session of the Committee of the Regions in Brussels, local leaders emphasized that the success of vehicle electrification depends on affordable access to zero-emission transport, widespread charging infrastructure, and sufficient market penetration across all regions.
To support this transition, regional leaders are requesting increased financial support to help manufacturers meet emission reduction targets. They also expressed support for a ‘Made in the EU’ approach within the automotive sector to strengthen European production and supply chains, provided that implementation remains proportional and avoids excessive administrative burdens.
