Poland advances smartphone regulations and market shifts in 2026

The European Union’s new Right‑to‑Repair directive (EU 2024/1799) will be transposed into Polish law by 31 July 2026, obliging manufacturers to offer repairs, spare parts and to stop blocking third‑party servicing for products such as smartphones, washing machines and televisions.

Poland’s parliament approved a ban on mobile‑phone use in preschools and primary schools, a measure supported by 65 % of respondents in an RMF FM poll. A separate poll showed the same level of public backing for prohibiting social‑media access for children under 16.

Mobile operator Plus announced that from 10 August 2026 it will discontinue several existing roaming bundles and replace them with new packages covering Europe and worldwide destinations.

Industry analysts warn that the rapid growth of artificial‑intelligence workloads is driving up prices for DRAM and NAND memory, threatening the availability of smartphones priced around 1 000 złoty.

The World Phone‑Free Day on 15 July encourages a 24‑hour offline period, while retailer Media Expert is promoting the Motorola Edge 50 Neo 5G at a reduced price of 1 099 złoty.
