EU Sets Final Deadline for Western Balkans Reform Funding Reports

The European Commission announced that the fourth reporting period for the EU Growth Plan in the Western Balkans closes on 30 June, with a final submission deadline of 15 July for detailed reform progress. Funds will only be disbursed after the Commission verifies that reforms have been fully implemented, according to spokesperson Guillaume Mercier. He noted that 78 % of reforms in the first three reporting rounds show full success or progress, while 22 % remain blocked.

Kosovo risks losing more than €40 million because of delayed reforms, while Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia have received over €212 million, €90 million and €142 million respectively for completed steps. Serbia has been allocated more than €167 million for three reforms, and Bosnia‑Herzegovina, which received no funding, lost €108 million last year due to missed deadlines. The overall budget for the Growth Plan is €6 billion for 2024‑2027, and unused funds may be redistributed to better‑performing countries.
