Euboea police investigate false kidnapping report involving extramarital affair

Police in Euboea, Greece, investigated a report of a woman being held hostage, only to discover she was actually with her partner. The investigation began after a man reported his wife was being held against her will at an unknown location.

Using mobile phone signals, authorities located the woman in Theologos. Upon arrival, they found the woman with a foreign man. It was revealed that the two had been living together since June and were in an extramarital relationship. A domestic dispute had occurred prior to the police arrival, involving shouting and physical aggression, which led the woman to message her ex-husband to come and pick her up. This message prompted the initial kidnapping report.

While no kidnapping occurred, the foreign man was arrested after police discovered he lacked the legal documentation required to remain in the country. He is expected to be brought before the Chalkida Prosecutor's Office.
