Eufrosina Cruz Leads STEAM Conference to Boost Girls in Chihuahua

Eufrosina Cruz Mendoza, a longtime advocate for indigenous women's rights, will headline a dinner‑conference titled “La Noche” on 20 August at 20:00 in Castalia, Chihuahua. The event aims to sustain the Ta Tewe Omero STEAM program, which has already reached more than 250 girls through mentorships, projects, research‑center visits and company tours. Attendees will include industry representatives, civil‑society groups and academic leaders such as Nicté Ortiz, director of the program, and presidents of Mujeres Industriales Canacintra Chihuahua.

Funds raised will support activities that keep girls in school and spark interest in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics, countering regional stereotypes that portray technical careers as male‑dominated. The initiative seeks to demonstrate that “girls can” and to connect participants with women holding technical and managerial positions in industry.
