Eufy and Reolink launch solar-powered security camera solutions
New solar-powered security camera solutions are entering the market, focusing on integrated lighting and autonomous power.
Eufy has announced the Wandleuchte S4, a device priced at 249.99 Euro that combines a 4K camera with smart lighting and a solar panel. A key feature is its 60-GHz mmWave radar sensor, designed to detect motion up to twelve meters away in a 120-degree ultra-wide angle to reduce false alarms caused by pets or wind. The device includes an 8-megapixel sensor, AI-driven recognition for people and vehicles, and customizable lighting that ranges from security modes to RGB colors. Shipping is expected to begin via pre-order starting August 20.
Reolink offers the Solar Floodlight Cam, a more budget-friendly option priced around 100 Euro. This device integrates a camera, floodlight, and solar panel to allow for installation without proximity to a power outlet. While it provides stable battery performance even in poor weather and operates without mandatory cloud services, it lacks pan capabilities and has noted limitations in night vision detail.
