Anker launches eufy Video Doorbell S4 with VR viewing

Anker, through its eufy brand, has announced the Video Doorbell S4, which it claims is the world’s first smart doorbell to support virtual reality (VR) viewing. Priced at approximately $299.99, the device allows users to explore a panoramic view of their entrance by moving their smartphone or using a compatible VR headset.

The doorbell features a 180-degree field of view both horizontally and vertically, capturing 3K HDR video at a resolution of 3072 x 3072 pixels. It utilizes the OmniTrack AI system to automatically track and center visitors within the frame. To enhance detection accuracy and reduce false alarms, the device combines radar technology with dual PIR infrared sensors, capable of detecting people, movement, packages, and faces.

Additional technical specifications include up to 8x zoom, color night vision via integrated spotlights, and two-way audio communication. The S4 is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit (the latter requiring a HomeBase S380 gateway). The device is powered by existing doorbell wiring but includes a 2,600 mAh backup battery for power outages.
