Eugen Botoš starší, Slovak musician and conductor, dies at 72

Slovak musician, conductor, and composer Eugen Botoš starší has passed away at the age of 72. His death was confirmed by his family and the Bratislava-Karlova Ves district.

Born in Lučenec in 1954, Botoš studied violin and composition, attending the Brno Conservatory and the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts. His professional career included membership in the SĽUK ensemble starting in 1972, through which he performed both domestically and internationally. He also founded the Violin Orchestra Bratislava, leading the ensemble on global tours and collaborating with numerous prominent musicians.

Botoš was recognized as a Personality of Karlova Ves in November 2024. He leaves behind a musical legacy continued by his family, including his son Eugen, a music producer, and his granddaughter Barbora Botošová, a violinist and arranger.
