Eugene Boakye Antwi favored in NPP General Secretary survey
A University of Ghana research study involving 889 New Patriotic Party (NPP) stakeholders indicates that a significant majority expect former Subin MP Eugene Boakye Antwi to win the upcoming National General Secretary election on October 3, 2026.
According to the findings led by Dr. Chris Atadika, 74.2% of respondents identified Boakye Antwi as the expected winner. In contrast, incumbent General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua was named by 25.1% of respondents, while Sylvester Tetteh received 0.7%.
The survey also measured candidate preference and perceived capability. Boakye Antwi led in outright preference with 76.6% of the vote compared to 23.1% for Kodua. Additionally, 60.1% of respondents believed Boakye Antwi is best positioned to help the NPP win the 2028 general election. Researchers noted that these figures reflect stakeholder expectations and perceptions rather than a definitive prediction of the actual election outcome.
