Eugene Martin Nugent arrives in Prague as new Apostolic Nuncio

Eugene Martin Nugent has arrived in Prague to begin his role as the new Apostolic Nuncio to the Czech Republic. He serves a dual purpose as the Pope’s representative to the local Catholic Church and as the diplomatic ambassador of the Holy See to the Czech Republic.

Following diplomatic protocol, Nugent will first present his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs before attending a formal audience at Prague Castle to present the original documents to President Petr Pavel. This ceremony will finalize his official diplomatic accreditation.

Nugent, born in Ireland, has an extensive diplomatic background, having previously served in Turkey, Jerusalem, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, Haiti, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain. He holds a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical Gregorian University.
