Eugene Opera celebrates 50th anniversary with production of Macbeth

Eugene Opera has launched its 50th anniversary season with a production of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Macbeth. The performances at Hult Center’s Silva Concert Hall featured debuts by Craig Irvin as Macbeth and Kara Shay Thomson as Lady Macbeth. The production included choreography by Keturah Stickann and notable performances by tenor Bernard Holcomb as Macduff and Esteban Zúñiga Calderón as Malcolm.

In a separate context related to the production of Macbeth, singer Emily Thompson, a resident artist at Florida State University, performed alongside her former teacher, Marcy Stonikas. Thompson described Stonikas as a vital mentor and advocate during her studies, particularly following a vocal injury during her sophomore year.
