Eugenia Martínez de Irujo launches rug collection with Hamid

Eugenia Martínez de Irujo, the Duchess of Montoro, has released a new collection of luxury rugs in collaboration with Hamid. The collection, titled ‘Patio Silencioso’, translates her original paintings into twelve handcrafted textile designs.

The rugs are made from wool and bamboo silk, using traditional hand-knotting techniques performed by artisans in India and Afghanistan. The designs are inspired by the Duchess’s childhood memories and the landscapes of the Palacio de Las Dueñas in Seville, featuring elements such as gardens, flowers, and lemon trees.

According to Omid Hejazi of Hamid, the project involved significant technical challenges in adapting the colors and complexity of the paintings to the medium of silk and wool to ensure aesthetic harmony.
