Eugenia Roccella speaks on the death of her husband

Eugenia Roccella, the Italian Minister for Family, Natality, and Equal Opportunities, has publicly shared her grief following the death of her husband, Luigi Cavallari. Cavallari, an 84-year-old engineer and university professor, disappeared in Lake Vico on June 27 after diving into the water during a day spent on the lake with his wife.

After 38 days of search operations involving various forces, his body was recovered by police divers on August 4. Roccella described the loss as “very brutal” and spoke about the profound uncertainty and the limits of human control during the weeks of waiting. She noted that she was supported by her children, friends, and a network of loved ones, stating that “hope and prayer are very closely linked.”
