Eugenio Derbez considers moving from Los Angeles to Madrid

Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez is considering relocating from Los Angeles to Madrid, Spain. After 12 years of living in California with his wife, Alessandra Rosaldo, and daughter, Aitana, Derbez expressed that his perception of the ‘American dream’ has changed.

In an interview with La Script, Derbez stated that he traveled to Madrid to explore the city as a potential permanent home. He noted that the Hollywood lifestyle may not have lived up to his initial expectations, saying, “I came to explore Madrid because I don’t like that world as much as I imagined. Perhaps I idealized it too much. I think I have already fulfilled the American dream.”

Derbez cited the career paths of Spanish actors Antonio Banderas and Javier Bardem as inspirations, noting how they maintain strong connections to their cultural roots while working internationally. While professional opportunities in the United States remain available, Derbez indicated a shift in priority toward emotional fulfillment and creative work that aligns with his linguistic and cultural identity.
