Eugenio Derbez reflects on career pace and potential retirement

Actor and comedian Eugenio Derbez has expressed deep personal reflections regarding his career pace and his desire to prioritize personal enjoyment. During an interview on the YouTube program ‘De Estreno’, Derbez admitted that he has spent much of his life postponing personal experiences, such as travel, in pursuit of professional milestones.

Derbez stated, “I have a desire to live. And it is something I have never done. I have spent my whole life saying: ‘Someday I will go to Thailand. Someday I will visit such a place...’ And to this day I have a car I do not enjoy, I have a house I do not enjoy, I have a life I do not enjoy, when I could be enjoying it.”

While he is questioning his current work rhythm and the need to constantly prove himself, he noted that he still has professional ambitions. Specifically, he expressed a desire to return to directing, a role he had previously set aside when moving to the United States due to language and cultural barriers. He aims to pursue directing projects on an international scale and in English.
