Eugenio Derbez reflects on the importance of time over material wealth in parenting

Mexican actor and producer Eugenio Derbez shared reflections on his experiences with fatherhood during an interview on Despierta América. Derbez noted that while he spent much of his career working intensely to provide financial stability and a legacy for his children, he has come to realize that his presence was more valuable.

“All my life I worked to give them an inheritance, to give them a better life and today I realize that what they would have liked most was my time 100%,” Derbez stated. He advised other parents to prioritize creating memories and shared experiences over leaving behind material assets like houses or cars, noting that children carry those memories for a lifetime.

Reflecting on becoming a father at a young age, Derbez described it as a significant learning period that shaped his current approach to parenting. He mentioned that he is currently striving to be a better version of a father for his daughter, Aitana.
