Eugénio Fonseca laid to rest in Setúbal

Eugénio Fonseca, the former president of Cáritas Portuguesa, was laid to rest on Monday, August 17, following a funeral mass held at the Sé in his birthplace.

During the service, Bishop Américo Aguiar praised Fonseca’s life, describing him as a Christian who refused to ignore poverty, exclusion, and injustice. Aguiar highlighted Fonseca’s proactive nature, noting his lifelong commitment to recognizing human dignity and transforming faith into social responsibility.
