Filipino professional boxer Eumir Marcial secured a third-round knockout victory against Omar Ulises Huerta in a middleweight bout at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. The win improved Marcial’s professional record to 8-0 with five knockouts.

Despite the victory, the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) announced that Marcial will withdraw from the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. ABAP President Marcus Manalo stated that the decision was made to prioritize Marcial’s health and safety due to the tight turnaround time.

Manalo noted that transitioning immediately from a professional fight in the United States to long-distance travel to Japan, involving a 16-hour time difference and a short recovery period, would be impractical and risky for the athlete.
