Eunji Gim wins women’s curling championship in Vernon
Eunji Gim and her Korean teammates won the women’s championship at the Prestige Hotels and Resorts Curling Classic held at the Vernon Curling Club. Gim, a 15-time Korean champion and 2024 Women’s World Curling bronze medalist, secured the title with a 5-2 victory over Japan’s Yuina Miura on Sunday, Oct. 4. This win earns the team a spot in the Grand Slam of Curling’s Co-Op Invitational in Victoria, scheduled for Oct. 13-18.
The tournament featured significant international participation, with seven of the eight playoff rinks representing Japan or Korea. Taylor Reese-Hansen of Victoria was the only Canadian rink to advance to the playoffs and earn prize money, eventually losing 4-3 in the quarterfinals to Gim.
The men’s competition concludes on Monday, Oct. 5, with eight teams competing for the final Grand Slam spot in Victoria. The playoffs include participants from Switzerland, Japan, and Canada.
