Eunpyeong-gu to transform Baengnyeonsan Mountain into major recreational park
Eunpyeong-gu is launching the ‘Baengnyeonsan Grand Remodeling Project’ to transform 200,000 square meters of the Baengnyeonsan Mountain area into a major complex recreational park for northwest Seoul. The project involves a total investment of approximately 7.046 billion KRW.
The initiative aims to integrate 10 previously separate projects to better connect the urban forest resources with surrounding residential areas. Key developments include the creation of three major rest areas: ‘Kkum-maeul Supjeongi’ (linked to social welfare facilities), ‘Noeulchae’ (a renovated observation and community space), and ‘Nokbeon Station Plaza’ at the mountain entrance.
To improve accessibility for the mobility-impaired, the district will install elevators on steep slopes and construct a 0.7km barrier-free path. The project also emphasizes community involvement through resident-participatory budgets and specialized gardens, such as the ‘Baby Birth Commemorative Garden’ and the ‘Garden of Tomorrow.’
