German towns host July festivals amid summer heat
Several towns in Germany and neighboring regions are holding summer festivals in early July. In Dachau, the 45th Marktfest runs from July 1‑5 with music, food stalls and a free ecumenical service. Eupen in Belgium hosts a five‑day Kirmes that began on Friday, drawing crowds despite unusually high temperatures. Bayreuth’s Bürgerfest takes place from July 3‑5, prompting road closures on Maximilianstraße and changes to city‑bus routes and taxi stands. The village of Harthaus celebrates a two‑day Dorffest on July 4‑5, featuring a beer garden, live music and a lights‑up event on the village square. Altstadt in the Saarland region held its Dorffest with live performances, a creative workshop for children, and community fundraising, even as a summer thunderstorm passed. In Wieselburg, Austria, the city combines its large Volksfest with the opening of a Wellbeing Center aimed at supporting mental health and local startups. Across all locations, the events emphasize local culture, communal gatherings and, where needed, adjustments to traffic and services.
