Eure-et-Loir A154-A120 highway project faces opposition
The proposed A154-A120 highway project between Dreux and Chartres in Eure-et-Loir is facing significant opposition. Critics argue the project will negatively impact ecology and the economy of local users.
Key concerns include the privatization of existing free roads (RN154 and parts of RN12) through a toll system, which may burden commuters and independent truck drivers already struggling with fuel costs. Opponents also warn that drivers unable to afford tolls may divert to secondary village roads, increasing pollution and accident risks.
Environmental concerns center on the construction of three viaducts over the Eure, Avre, and Blaise valleys, which could increase flood risks and damage over 90 hectares of wetlands and forested areas. A concession contract is expected to be signed within two months, though specific toll costs have not yet been disclosed.
