Euregio Tirol-Südtirol-Trentino approves new avalanche protection software

The Euregio Tirol-Südtirol-Trentino has approved funding for a new digital platform, ‘Pro. Lawinen. Report’, designed to enhance avalanche protection across the region. The software, which will be available to all 346 avalanche commissions in the Euregio by the 2026/27 winter season, allows members to record observations on-site, perform risk assessments, and communicate recommended safety measures, such as closing roads or ski slopes, directly to decision-makers.

Developed under the EU-funded Interreg project ‘Cairos’, the tool is optimized for mobile use and functions offline in areas without network coverage. The project also produced new avalanche scenario maps and standardized training for commissions. Funding for the first five years of the platform's operation was secured during recent meetings in Innsbruck by the Euregio Board and Assembly.
