Eureka Forbes investigates child labour findings at New Delhi supplier

Eureka Forbes has launched an internal investigation into its supply chain following the discovery of child labour at a supplier in New Delhi. The National Human Rights Commission directed Eureka Forbes, electrical equipment manufacturer Havells, and Hindustan Unilever’s India unit to conduct supply chain audits after authorities rescued four children from YY Harness, a small-scale electrical component vendor.

The rescued children, aged between 14 and 16, reportedly worked six days a week for monthly wages between $105 and $125. While YY Harness identified several major corporations as clients, Hindustan Unilever denied the vendor was a business partner, and Havells did not respond to inquiries.

Eureka Forbes Chief Financial Officer Gaurav Khandelwal stated that the company is treating the allegations with extreme seriousness and has initiated an immediate review of its practices. The National Human Rights Commission, a body with binding orders for government authorities, has urged companies to urgently inspect their supply chains to prevent profiting from child labour.
