Euribor index decreases slightly to 2.943%
The Euribor, the benchmark interest rate used for mortgages, has seen a slight decrease of 14 basis points, falling to 2.943%. The provisional average for August 2026 stands at 2.922%, which represents a decrease compared to the previous month but remains significantly higher than the value recorded in August 2025, which was 2.114%.
This fluctuation impacts variable-rate mortgage holders. For a €150,000 mortgage over 25 years with a 1% differential, a semiannual review could result in monthly payments increasing from €853.68 to €910.31. An annual review would see payments rise from €845.24 to €910.31.
The European Central Bank is scheduled to hold its next monetary policy meeting on September 10 in Berlin, following its usual cycle of meetings approximately every six weeks.
