Euribor trends upward with 2026 forecasts revised to 3.2%-3.5%

The Euribor is showing upward pressure, defying optimistic forecasts and leading experts to revise expectations for interest rates. As of September 2026, the provisional monthly average has reached approximately 3.202%, a significant increase compared to the 2.172% average recorded in September 2025.

Financial experts, including Ricardo Gulias of RN Tu Solución Hipotecaria, suggest that the Euribor could close 2026 between 3.2% and 3.5%. This upward trend is driven by persistent inflation, energy price pressures, and upcoming decisions by the European Central Bank. The rising index complicates the prospect of cheaper mortgages for families relying on variable-rate loans, as banks typically use the monthly average to adjust payments.
