Euro 7 standard introduces new EU vehicle emission rules

The European Union is implementing the Euro 7 standard, which introduces new regulations for vehicle emissions. Unlike previous standards, Euro 7 expands its scope beyond traditional exhaust gases like nitrogen oxides and particulate matter to include brake and tire abrasion.

For electric vehicles, the norm includes specific requirements regarding battery durability. While classic exhaust emission limits for passenger cars will remain largely consistent with Euro 6 levels, the standard introduces more stringent particle measurement, expanding the range from 23 to 10 nanometers. Additionally, manufacturers must demonstrate compliance with emission values for up to 160,000 kilometers or eight years, with provisions for an additional lifespan of up to ten years or 200,000 kilometers.
