Euro-Druckservice to close Romanian printing factory

Euro-Druckservice (EDS), a German-owned printing group, has announced it will close its EDS România facility in Ghimbav, Brașov county, by December 31, 2025. The decision follows years of declining revenue and increasing operational costs.

Group CEO Tomas Kramar stated that the closure is part of a production capacity optimization process. The company cited disproportionate increases in energy, labor, and paper costs, which have made the Romanian unit less competitive within the group’s European network. The facility, established in 2008 with an investment of approximately €20 million, has seen significant revenue declines, dropping from a peak of €47.6 million in 2019 to roughly €17.8 million in recent years.

The closure will impact approximately 84 employees. EDS Romania has reported losses in nine of the last ten years, with 2025 revenues falling to approximately 90.9 million lei against a loss of 5.5 million lei.
