Euro Stoxx 50 and S&P 500 gain as global markets rally

On July 31 the Stockholm exchange opened higher, with Euro Stoxx 50 futures up 0.76%, FTSE 100 up 0.50% and Germany's DAX up 0.57%. In the United States, the S&P 500 rose 1.66% to 7,437.63 and the Nasdaq Composite jumped 2.78% to 25,122.18, led by a 5.24% gain in the IT sector while telecoms fell 2.52%. The U.S. 10‑year Treasury yield fell to 4.66%, Brent crude fell 1.37% to $86.88 and WTI slipped 1.03% to $83.59. Gold rose 3.08% to $4,160.60 and the euro weakened to 1.1509 dollars. Asian markets rallied, with South Korea's Kospi soaring 15.8% and Japan's Nikkei 225 gaining 4.05% to 64,372.80. Lifco announced the acquisition of all shares in French distributor ErgoPack France. Swedish broker Nordnet reported net buying of Investor, Axfood and Saabi, while Avanza investors bought AstraZeneca, Investor A and Axfood.

The previous day, July 30, saw more muted moves. Euro Stoxx 50 futures edged up 0.06% while FTSE 100 fell 0.77% and DAX slipped 0.24%. The S&P 500 declined 1.52% to 7,316.15 and Nasdaq dropped 1.74% to 24,442.94. Energy stocks led gains (+1.98%) and workshop stocks lagged (-3.24%). The U.S. 10‑year yield rose to 4.67% and commodity prices jumped, with Brent up 7.32% to $88.09 and WTI up 6.56% to $84.46. Gold edged down 0.06% to $4,036.30 and the euro fell to 1.1454 dollars. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.06% to 62,084.99 while the Topix slipped 0.36%. Verisure posted improved Q2 results and declared an interim dividend of €0.10 per share.
