Euro strengthens as markets bet on hawkish ECB policy
The euro is experiencing renewed strength against the US dollar, driven by increasing market expectations of a hawkish monetary policy from the European Central Bank (ECB). Traders are pricing in a higher probability of interest rate hikes to combat persistent inflation in key eurozone economies, such as Germany and France.
This shift reflects a policy divergence between the ECB and the Federal Reserve, as the latter is widely expected to pause its rate-hiking cycle. As a result, the narrowing yield differential between German and US government bonds has increased the attractiveness of euro-denominated assets.
Technical indicators show the EUR/USD pair gaining momentum. While some analysis suggests the pair is consolidating gains after breaking through previous resistance levels, others highlight a potential breakout toward psychological levels such as 1.1000 or 1.1600, depending on sustained market movement.
