Eurobank completes 100% acquisition of Eurolife Life

Eurobank has announced the completion of its acquisition of Eurolife Life, following the purchase of the remaining 80% stake from companies controlled by Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited. This transaction brings Eurobank’s total ownership of the Greek life insurance provider to 100%.

The acquisition, valued at approximately 813 million euros, is a strategic move to strengthen the bank’s presence in the insurance sector and diversify its revenue streams through expanded bancassurance activities.

In a related move, Eurobank is proceeding with the sale of a 45% stake in its Cypriot general insurance subsidiary, ERB Asfalistiki, to Fairfax-linked companies. This sale, valued at approximately 55 million euros, is expected to be finalized by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.

Separately, Eurobank reported strong financial results for the first nine months of 2026. Adjusted net profits rose 14.3% year-on-year to 1.209 billion euros. The bank’s performance was bolstered by interest income, a 10.5% increase in its loan portfolio, and significant contributions from international operations, particularly in Cyprus and Bulgaria.
