Eurobank to complete €813 million Eurolife acquisition
Eurobank is nearing the completion of its acquisition of the remaining 80% of Eurolife FFH Life from Fairfax Financial for €813 million. Following approval from the European Commission, which determined the deal does not raise competition concerns, the transaction is expected to close by the end of September 2026, pending standard regulatory approvals.
The deal will result in Eurobank gaining full ownership of the life insurance business, while Fairfax retains control of Eurolife FFH General Insurance and acquires a 45% stake in ERB Asfalistiki, a Cypriot general insurance arm, for approximately €55 million.
Eurolife FFH reported strong financial results for 2025, with net profits rising 63% year-on-year to €164.4 million and gross written premiums reaching €616.5 million. The company holds a 21.9% share of the Greek life insurance market. For Eurobank, the full integration of Eurolife is expected to increase group commission income by 12% and boost earnings per share by 5%.
