EuroChampion Jet 2 ferry crew extinguishes vehicle fire at sea

A small fire broke out in the garage of the Seajets ferry EuroChampion Jet 2 while the vessel was traveling from Mykonos to Syros. The fire involved a private vehicle, specifically a van, located in the upper garage area.

The ship's crew responded immediately after the fire alarm was activated, utilizing the vessel's fixed sprinkler system and portable fire extinguishers to extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported among the approximately 384 passengers and 34 crew members on board.

Following an inspection by the Hellenic Coast Guard, the vessel unloaded the damaged vehicle at the port of Syros and continued its scheduled route toward Piraeus. Seajets stated that the incident was handled successfully and within a minimal timeframe due to the crew's adherence to safety protocols.
