EuroCup Women basketball teams begin group stage competition

The EuroCup Women group stage has commenced with varying results for several European clubs. In France, ESBVA secured a dominant 92-51 victory against the Czech side DSK Brandys at the Palacium in Villeneuve-d’Ascq. Despite a slow start where DSK Brandys led by nine points, ESBVA responded with a 13-0 run to take control of the match.

Other results from the opening week included:

• SL Benfica defeated the Saarlouis Royals 69-65 in Lisbon, led by Schaquilla Nunn’s 26 points and 12 rebounds. • Panathinaikos Athens secured an 81-73 home win against ALBA Berlin, following a decisive 9-0 run in the final quarter. • Rutronik Stars Keltern earned a 66-60 victory over Bulgarian champions BC Montana 2003 in a closely contested match, with Karina Konstantinova scoring 17 points.
