Eurofarma reduces prices for semaglutide medication Poviztra

Eurofarma has announced price reductions for Poviztra, a semaglutide-based medication used to treat obesity, overweight with comorbidities, and to reduce cardiovascular risks such as heart attack and stroke. Through the EuroCuida patient support program, the price for the 1.7 mg dose has decreased by 39% to R$ 829, while the 2.4 mg dose has seen a 29% reduction to R$ 1,169.

This move follows previous price cuts in June for the 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, and 1 mg presentations. Eurofarma markets Poviztra through a partnership with Novo Nordisk and describes the product as identical to Wegovy.

The price adjustments occur as the Brazilian semaglutide market opens following the expiration of the substance's patent in March 2026. Anvisa, Brazil's regulatory agency, recently approved the country's first semaglutide generic and has approved several other semaglutide pens, with more expected through 2026.
