EuroLeague CEO says league stronger than ever as NBA Europe looms
EuroLeague chief executive Tzou Boueno told City AM that the competition is at its strongest point and will not disappear, even if NBA Europe launches a 12‑team league in the continent. He said the league plans to expand from 20 to 24 clubs by 2027 through a franchise model, with more than €1.2 billion in offers already on the table. Boueno stressed that clubs retain control of the product and that any NBA entry would fragment the market, affect broadcasting and sponsorship values, and could trigger legal disputes. He expressed confidence that the EuroLeague’s market momentum and investor backing will keep the league dominant despite the new competition.
