EuroLeague clubs see rise in summer player buyouts

The EuroLeague summer transfer market has seen a significant shift toward high-value player buyouts rather than the traditional acquisition of free agents. This trend is driven by clubs' desire to strengthen rosters and increase competitiveness, supported by rising revenues.

Greek clubs have been particularly active. Panathinaikos paid 1.5 million euros to acquire Branco Baptista from Valencia, while Olympiacos spent 500,000 euros on Jean Montero from Valencia and 400,000 euros on Embay Edi from Villeurbanne.

Other notable transactions include Real Madrid paying 1 million euros to Valencia for coach Pedro Martínez and 1.5 million euros for Jaime Pradilla. Barcelona paid a 100,000 euro clause for Moses Wright, who was later transferred to Armani Milano for 900,000 euros, and received 900,000 euros from the transfer of Toko Shengelia.
