EuroLeague confirms Super Cup will proceed in Abu Dhabi

EuroLeague Basketball has officially confirmed that the inaugural EuroLeague Super Cup will proceed as scheduled in Abu Dhabi on September 18 and 19, 2026. This announcement aims to dispel recent speculation regarding the potential cancellation or relocation of the tournament due to rising tensions in the Middle East.

The competition will feature a Final Four format including Olympiacos, Fenerbahçe, Real Madrid, and Dubai BC. While the organization expressed its commitment to providing an exceptional experience for players and fans, the event has faced scrutiny due to regional security levels. Some reports indicated that participating teams had expressed concerns, and travel advisories for the region currently sit at level 3.

Despite these concerns, EuroLeague Basketball stated that the tournament remains unchanged. Previous discussions regarding moving the event to cities like Valencia or Istanbul were dismissed due to time constraints, leaving cancellation as the only other realistic alternative if security levels were to escalate further.
