Europa-Union and JEF Germany Host Berlin Forum on Democracy and Defense
On 14 March, the joint Bundesausschuss of Europa‑Union (EUD) and the Junge Europa‑Forum (JEF) Germany convened in Berlin. Around 100 delegates and guests participated, demanding a catalog of measures to safeguard liberal democracy across Europe and adopting new guidelines for cooperation within the Europa‑Union.
The day featured workshops on European federalism, prospects for EU enlargement, and the formation of a European defence union that emphasizes the protection of European values as well as territorial security. The event also marked the 80th anniversary of the Europa‑Union, with President Prof. Dr. Andrea Wechsler outlining plans for anniversary celebrations in 2026, an updated resolution to be presented at the upcoming Bundeskongress in Königswinter, and a central commemorative gathering in Berlin later in the year. Wechsler highlighted that a reform window may arise depending on the election outcome in Hungary and the forthcoming French elections.
