Europe and Switzerland Accelerate AI and Deep‑Tech Investment

European and Chinese leaders at the 12th CEIBS Europe Forum in Paris and Brussels called for a shift from zero‑sum rivalry to constructive collaboration on artificial intelligence. Former European Council President Charles Michel stressed AI’s role in sovereignty, highlighting semiconductors, data infrastructure and regulatory policy as key. Chinese officials, including Ambassador Cai Run, echoed the need for dialogue, while industry panels discussed AI’s applications in energy, healthcare and manufacturing and warned about its rising energy demand.

A separate report released in Paris shows Switzerland emerging as a global deep‑tech hub. The Swiss Deep‑Tech Report 2026 notes the country ranks among the top three worldwide for venture‑capital intensity in AI, robotics and advanced computing. With the highest density of AI researchers per capita and 63 % of Swiss venture capital directed to deep tech, funding reached a record $2.6 billion in 2025, equating to $1,470 per person. The findings underline Switzerland’s strategic focus on frontier technologies and its expanding role in the international innovation landscape.
