Global study examines first-year costs for essential baby products

An international study by Remitly and analysis by Euronews examines the cost of essential baby products during a child’s first year across various countries. The research highlights significant economic disparities when comparing product costs to average annual incomes.

In Europe, Romania and Czechia report some of the lowest nominal costs, with Romania at approximately €3,385 and Czechia at €3,211. Conversely, Spain, the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, and Switzerland represent the highest expenses. In Albania, the cost is estimated at €5,532, which equates to roughly 66% of the average annual salary.

The study identifies that clothing, formula, and diapers constitute 81% of the analyzed expenses. While nominal prices vary, the economic impact is most accurately measured by how much of a household's income is required to cover these essentials.
