Varta Consumer Batteries launches as independent entity
The profitable consumer battery division of the insolvent Varta Group is being spun off into a new, independent company, Varta Consumer Batteries GmbH & Co. KGaA. This separation has been approved by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs.
The move is supported by the former group's main creditors, including Deutsche Bank and investors such as RBC BlueBay, Blantyre, and Whitebox. The new entity aims to preserve approximately 990 jobs, with no planned staff reductions during the transition. The central production site remains in Dischingen, Baden-Württemberg, where operations continue in three shifts.
Managing Director Mark Munz stated that the business remains stable and well-positioned with customers. The company anticipates average annual revenue growth of three to four percent through 2029, focusing on European markets while eyeing expansion in Asia, South America, and Canada.
