Europe Gulf Forum addresses energy and maritime security

The third Europe Gulf Forum convened in New York on September 24, held alongside the UN General Assembly. The meeting brought together leaders and officials from Europe, the Gulf, and the United States to address the escalating geopolitical and energy crisis in the Middle East.

Participants focused on security, energy, trade, and investment, with a specific emphasis on restoring freedom of navigation through critical maritime arteries, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The forum highlighted that the crisis in the Gulf has direct consequences for Europe, impacting fuel prices, energy costs, and overall economic stability.

Key figures in attendance included former UK Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair, former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and former White House energy advisor Amos Hochstein. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni participated via video, stating that European prosperity depends on peace, open trade, and secure connections.
